Electrolysis of calcium chloride

  1. Produce calcium chloride from calcium ores by combining them with hydrochloric acid
    CaCO3 + 2 HCl CaCl2 + H2O
  2. Electrolyze at 775°C, 100V
    CaCl2
    {
    775°C 100V}
    Ca + Cl2

From halides

  1. by halide stripping with sodium[1]
    CaI2 + 2 Na 2 NaI + Ca
