Producer gas (aka syngas or Synthesis gas) is a flammable mixture composed primarily of hydrogen and carbon monoxide.

Uses

Primary

As a fuel (fv=)

Secondary

Can be converted to methanol by self-hydrogenation using Raney nickel or urushibara nickel.

Natural Occurrence

Does not occur naturally under normal conditions./

Synthesis

It is produced by exposing hydrocarbons or solid carbon to steam at high temperatures:
