Synthesis

1. Chlorinate butadiene to give 1,4-dichloro-2-butene
2. Combine 1,4-dichloro-2-butene with sodium cyanide, giving 3-hexenedinitrile
3. Hydrogenate 3-hexenedinitrile which gives Adiponitrile
