Production

Synthesis

  • Timakova process[1]
    1. Oxidize metallic bismuth preliminarily with atmospheric oxygen
    2. Purify bismuth from accompanying metals with nitric acid by its precipitation from nitrate solutions in the form of trihydroxo-pentaoxo-hexabismuth (III) trihydrate
    3. Transform it into bismuth (III) oxide salicylate by treatment with the aqueous solution of salicylic acid.
