Uses
Primary
- Important food energy component of many grains, roots, and tubers
- Source of glucose

- Many plants are naturally high in starch including potatos and cattail rhizomes.

- Starch is generally recognized as safe
Production
From potatos
- Peel potatos and cut into 3cm cubes
- Boil at the lowest possible temperature for half an hour
- Press-filter through cloth or paper
From cat tails
- Peel cat tail rhizomes and cut into 1.5cm cubes
- Boil with some small amount of potassium carbonate for 2 hours
- Press-filter through cloth or paper
